What is Emotional Release Therapy?

What is Emotional Release Therapy

We might not remember every little thing that’s happened in our lives, but our bodies sure do! Everything we experience gets stored in our cells, and sometimes, those memories or emotions create little "lenses" that affect how we see the world. It’s liikkkeee going through life picking up a new pair of color sunglasses and stacking them every time something impacts us. By our adult lives, we are seeing our world through stacked greens, purples, and blues..its a muddy, cloudy mess.  Emotional Release Therapy helps us remove those lenses one at a time, so we can see and live more clearly, creating a life of freedom

How Does It Work?:

It all starts with muscle testing, which helps us connect to your subconscious. We’ll focus on a specific issue—maybe imposter syndrome, a fear of public speaking, anxiety attacks, or simply just wanting to get out of our way—and use muscle testing to pinpoint the root cause, often taking us back to a particular age. From there, we work through the emotions tied to that moment and release them from the organs where they’ve been “stuck.” We’ll also forgive anyone involved and replace old patterns with new, healthier ones. The purpose is to break a pattern that we have subconsciously committed to, that no longer serves us. Although, often these patterns were created from a place of safety, survival etc, our commitment to them destroys our lives.

What is Muscle Testing?

Muscle testing is a form of Applied Kinesiology. In short, it’s how we ask your body for a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” about different things. By gently applying pressure to a limb, we can quickly figure out what your body needs, whether it’s a stress trigger or a remedy. It’s like a direct line to your body’s wisdom—your body has been calling, and we’re finally answering the phone.

What Can I Expect During a Session?

Even if you’re completely silent during a session, we’ll still get to the heart of things. Through muscle testing, we tap into your subconscious, uncovering hidden emotions, blocked energy, and people involved. It’s like having your own personal body detective at work, unveiling clues to what has been holding you back. And the best part? Your subconscious does the heavy lifting, so your conscious mind gets to kick back and relax. No need to relive any traumatic moments—just deep, gentle healing.

How Are Stagnant Emotions Cleared?

We use a combination of physical connection, visualization, and breath-work to release those stuck emotions. When things get a bit more intense, we bring in forgiveness and tapping techniques to fully clear the emotional clutter. It’s like giving your body a fresh start, minus the emotional baggage.

The shifts you’ll notice depend on what we’re working through. For fears and phobias, you may find those things softening over time. If we’re tackling mental patterns, many clients report feeling more at ease, less stressed, and able to move forward with greater ease and joy. It’s like emotional spring cleaning!

Why Is Emotional Release Therapy Important for Optimal Health?

Science backs it up: your brain and body are best friends, always sending signals to each other to keep everything running smoothly. The amygdala, that little part of the brain responsible for triggering your fight, flight, or freeze response, plays a huge role in how your body reacts to stress.

When trauma is stored in the body or brain, that system gets a little... off-track. The fight-or-flight mode gets stuck on overdrive, sending cortisol (the stress hormone) spiking unnecessarily. Over time, this constant emotional state can mess with your body and organ systems, causing dysfunction and imbalance.

But here’s where it gets interesting: Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern studies show that specific emotions are linked to specific organs. For example, anger is often tied to the liver, sadness with the lungs, and fear with the kidneys. By releasing these stagnant emotions, not only does your mind get a break, but your body also enters a healing state, leading to better overall health.

Some Examples of Organ-Emotion Connections:

  • Anger = Liver

  • Sadness/Grief = Lungs

  • Happiness = Heart

  • Fear = Kidneys

  • Stress/Worry = Spleen

Of course, there’s more to it than just these connections, and we take a deeper look at the emotions involved during your Emotional Release Therapy sessions.
